Camera, dogs, pillows, snacks. Off we go for
an evening's outting to Eagle Summit, just 100 miles north of Fairbanks. It's
late June and I want to get a photo of the midnight sun which can be seen from
the summit.
Just before the end of the pavement (halfway
there) we are stopped. Fire ahead! But they will guide us through with a pilot
car if we want to go. Well, if the pilot car is going through, we can too! We
are well committed, when smoke covers the road ahead of us and hides the pilot
car. Uh, oh!
These little bluebells grew on Eagle Summit along with daisies
and arctic fireweed and other wild flowers I didn't know the names for. Can you
see the bluebells following your cursor?
