The Grande Finale

Part 4

Encore sunrise

Grande Finale, Alaskan Size

We arrived home around 2:30 am. From my upstairs window, I watched the sun backlight the trees and play an encore to earlier scenes. What a night it had been!

After we made it through the fire with nary a spark hitting our car, our driver relaxed, even smiled a little as he drove past the deserted place where we'd picked up the pilot car earlier. The excitement over, I settled down to nap.

But I didn't get to sleep. It was 1 am and the sun, rising through the smoky clouds, began to play a beautiful symphony of color, changing and getting ever more spectacular as it climbed. This time our driver was willing to stop. Look below to see our trip's Grande Finale and go back to Lesson 9 to see the Grandest Finale. (Use your back arrow to return here from either photo.)

Web Notes

I hope you enjoyed the story and the photos. It truly was an awesome experience. Because I used two photos with somewhat different colors, this page was challenging to coordinate.

Lesson Notes

The bonus lesson requirement for this page is the mapped navigational image. When we did this earlier, I found it difficult to get the dimensions right. But now, although I'm grateful I know what is happening, my new web builder does the work for me, which makes mapping a tool I'll use again and again.

Thank you for a great class!
