We arrived home around 2:30 am. From my upstairs window, I watched the sun backlight the trees and play an encore to earlier scenes. What a night it had been!
After we made it through the fire with nary a spark hitting our car, our driver relaxed, even smiled a little as he drove past the deserted place where we'd picked up the pilot car earlier. The excitement over, I settled down to nap.
But I didn't get to sleep. It was 1 am and the sun, rising through the smoky clouds, began to play a beautiful symphony of color, changing and getting ever more spectacular as it climbed. But now, although I'm grateful I know what is happening, my new web builder does the work for me, which makes mapping a tool I'll use again and again.
