Spring Snow in the Arizona Desert

Near the Superstition Mountains, 2005

It was the middle of April. Snowbirds were leaving to avoid the heat. And then the weather changed. Children in Scottsdale made angels in the snow in their back yards. Locals trouped to the desert to gawk at the foreign white stuff and take photos of snow on the cactus. By afternoon, the snow on the desert was gone. It clung to the nearby Superstition Mountains for another day before it too disappeared. Now, we have only our photos to prove it really happened.
