Fingers of God
A Russian Orthodox Church
in Ninilchick, Akaska, 1999
Often, the Alaskan sky is painted in shades of clear blue and accented with feathery clouds like these. I like to think that they are the hand of God blessing this little church in Ninilchick. Ninilchick (ni-nil-chick) is a fishing village on the Kenai Peninsula, south of Anchorage, that combines the traditional with the modern -- log cabins and RV's, for instance.(Can you see the RV in the background?) That's Mt. Redoubt in the far background, an active volcano. |
