Fonts

You cannot count on any certain font (type style) being on all computers. Some are fairly common and newer computers may have more, but you want everyone to enjoy your page - and see it as nearly as possible just the way you plan it.

That means that you must do one of three things:

1. Use font families so that if the viewer's computer doesn't have your chosen font, it can go down your list to one that it does have. This way, you can control the way your site looks even if it can't use your most favorite font.

2. Use your special fonts only in photos or graphics. This limits the changes you can make since you'd have to go back to the photo and change it - if you could. This is especially good for headings and logos. I used it below in the photo too.

3. Provide a download link for your font so that your viewers will see your site the way you envisioned it. This is the ultimate solution: you can use the font you want and can change your text at will. However, it depends on the viewer's questionable willingness and/or ability to download something onto their computer.

Often you may end up doing all three as I have done on this page and the following one.

Arizona Nightlights

Lake Havasu in February

I only spent one night at Lake Havasu. I'd been driving all day, I was tired and I felt like I was coming down with a cold. The first hotel I stopped at was full, and I had to go to another. I was really feeling down! But on the way, this light show came to lift my spirits and remind of what really matters!

The Prickley Pear Cactus

The Prickly Pear that grows prodigiously in Arizona desert - and in many urban yards - blooms in the vivid yellow you see here or in equally vivid red or orange. Its wide flat stalks are usually green but in times of drought, they can turn various shades of pink and purple.
